Biochemistry

 * Primary Target: Acetolactate synthase (ALS)/Acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS) enzyme

* Biochemical Action:
* Inhibits branched-chain amino acid (valine, leucine, isoleucine) biosynthesis
* Disrupts plant cell division and growth

Mode of action

* ALS/AHAS Inhibitor:
* Blocks the first step in branched-chain amino acid synthesis
* Causes growth cessation within hours
* Visible symptoms (chlorosis, necrosis) appear in 1-2 weeks

* Systemic Activity:
* Absorbed by roots and leaves
* Translocates to growing points

* Selectivity:
* Safe for rice due to rapid metabolic detoxification
* Controls weeds at very low application rates (10-60 g a.i./ha)

Usage

 * Primary Applications:
* Transplanted rice
* Direct-seeded rice
* Rice nurseries

* Target Weeds:
* Broadleaf weeds (Monochoria vaginalis, Lindernia spp.)
* Sedges (Cyperus difformis, Scirpus spp.)
* Some annual grasses

* Application Rates:
* Standard rate: 30-60 g product/ha (18-36 g a.i./ha)
* Heavy infestations: up to 90 g product/ha

* Application Method:
* Post-emergence, early weed growth stage (2-4 leaf)
* Uniform spray or broadcast in 300-500 L water/ha
* Maintain 3-5 cm water layer for 3-5 days after application
